THC is the most famous and dominated cannabinoid in the cannabis plants, it mostly responsible for the psychoactive influence of the plant. It’s recognized to be a powerful pain relief, productive in killing cancer cells and treating diseases like glaucoma, Parkinson, and more.

What is THC? Everything you wanted to know about it

Delta9-Tetrahydrocannabinol aka THC is one of more than 100 cannabinoids (active ingredients) that have been found until today in the plant, known as the main and famous one of them for many reasons we will teach you here.

He got its name for the “high” feeling of the cannabis plant, which it’s responsible for.

What is THC? High feeling, high face

The THC got isolated from the plant firstly in 1964, from the hands of Pr. Rafael Meshulam and Dr. Yehiel Geoni from Israel that worked together with an investigation crew from the Hebrew University and Weizmann Institute.

The creation of THC

THC is a product of a process called “decarboxylation” and it creates by the cannabinoid acid THCA which is found in the Cannabis flowers, mostly at its trichomes, when goes through heated by cooking, vaping or smoking. The THCA itself is a very healthy ingredient for eating.

Only after heating the THCA to 155-165 degrees and more the THC is separated from the THCA and causing the known “High” effect. That is also the reason why flower that got of a plant and been eaten will not cause a psychoactive effect. When THC is oxidized (revealed to air), gets old or taking damage, it converts to CBN, meaning – when THC is disappearing and dissipates, CBN is rising (CBN has no psychoactive effect).

Influences: Appetite, Remembering and more…

When consumed Cannabis, the THC is integrating with receptors in the brain and the nerve system, those receptors are part of the Endocannabinoid system in the human body – the inner system that influences a wide range of biological and chemical processes in the body and is a crucial factor in the proper functioning of body systems. Which was discovered following the Israeli researchers’ attempt to understand how the component affects the body.

The THC binds to two types of receptors, CB1 and CB2, scattered throughout the body: the spine, the immune system, and especially the brain. Its absorption causes the release of dopamine in the brain, leading to euphoria and good mood, and it also affects how information is processed in the hippocampus, the region of the brain responsible for creating new memories.

Apart from these two effects, the component is also responsible for the benefits of cannabis as an appetite stimulant and also contains other medicinal properties.

THC intake can cause a number of mild side effects ranging from drowsiness to dizziness, to dry mouth and distortion of time. Some people may suffer from anxiety and paranoia that may even lead to a psychotic attack, but these are extreme and rare cases.

It is important to remember that all physical and psychological sensations caused by consumption will disappear when the effect expires, usually within a few hours.

The long-term effects are not yet clear to the world of science due to a lack of comprehensive studies, but so far there has been no injury or benefit directly attributable to the consumption of THC, neither in large quantities nor over time.

THC for the treatment of cancer patients, Parkinson’s and AIDS

As science and research progress in the world of cannabis, THC is emerging as a powerful drug that can cure people suffering from various diseases and symptoms.

The most interesting among its many medicinal properties is its ability to fight cancer and prevent its development in advance. Numerous animal and human studies have shown that THC has the ability to treat a variety of cancers, stop growth and growth of tumors, and cause cancer cells to die without harming healthy cells around them (unlike chemotherapy). It is also associated with relief from nausea that helps improve the quality of life of oncological patients after chemotherapy.

Outside the oncology community, one of the main uses of this component is for natural pain relief, especially neuropathic pain and nervous system pain. In addition, it is effective in the treatment of Alzheimer’s, Tourette, Parkinson’s, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, post-traumatic stress disorder, attention disorders, psoriasis and various skin diseases.

In addition to the various medical conditions mentioned above, the TICH contains anti-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory properties and is effective in the treatment of intestinal infections and arthritis.
